Applicants typically build their candidacy through graduate teaching experience, peer-reviewed publication or creative work, and letters of recommendation from established scholars or practitioners.
Which companies hire faculty positions in Maine?
Maine faculty position roles are posted by State Farm, MSAD #11, and McDonald's and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maine's academic hiring is driven primarily by its public university system and a strong cluster of private liberal arts colleges, which together account for the majority of full-time faculty openings statewide.
Which Maine cities have the most faculty position jobs?

Portland leads because of the University of Southern Maine, Maine Medical Center's academic affiliates, and several professional and health sciences programs, while Bangor and Orono concentrate hiring around the University of Maine's flagship campus and the medical and nursing programs anchored in the greater Penobscot region.
