Finance Associate Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance associate in Vermont?
Most Vermont employers require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics as the baseline qualification for a finance associate role. Vermont does not impose a state-specific license for general finance associate work, but roles involving investment advice may require FINRA registration, and those with accounting responsibilities often prefer candidates pursuing CPA licensure through the Vermont Board of Public Accountancy. Internship experience with a Vermont bank, insurance company, or corporate finance department strengthens any application considerably.
Which companies hire finance associates in Vermont?
Companies currently hiring finance associates in Vermont include HCRS, Ryder System, and Mountain Views Supervisory Union, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's finance associate market is especially active among regional banks, insurance carriers headquartered in the state, and the finance offices of its larger universities and healthcare systems.
Which Vermont cities have the most finance associate jobs?
The Vermont cities with the most finance associate openings are Vermont, Woodstock, and Montpelier. Burlington leads because it concentrates the state's largest financial institutions, corporate headquarters, and the University of Vermont medical and administrative operations, while Montpelier's role as the state capital draws openings from government-adjacent finance and insurance firms, and South Burlington benefits from proximity to Burlington's commercial corridor and its own growing business services sector.
Are there remote finance associate jobs in Vermont?
Yes, and more than many fields, since finance associate work is primarily analytical and desk-based. About 31% of finance associate openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well much of the role translates to distributed work. Financial reporting, budgeting support, and data analysis tasks are the functions most commonly offered remotely, while roles requiring hands-on audit work or client-facing responsibilities in Vermont branches tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance associate in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a finance or accounting internship with a Vermont-based employer followed by a full-time offer. National Life Group and People's United Bank have historically offered structured programs for new graduates, and the University of Vermont's finance and procurement offices regularly bring on entry-level analysts. Candidates coming from adjacent roles like accounts payable specialist, bank teller, or financial services representative find the transition straightforward. Completing an accounting or finance certificate, or beginning CPA exam coursework, meaningfully strengthens an application with no prior full-time experience.
Where can I find and apply to finance associate jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to finance associate jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No sign-up is required to view and apply to positions.
