Finance Systems Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance systems manager in California?
Most finance systems managers in California start with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or information systems, then build several years of experience in ERP administration, financial analysis, or systems implementation before moving into a management role. California does not require a state license specific to this role, but earning a CPA through the California Board of Accountancy or a CMA through the IMA significantly strengthens candidacy, especially at larger enterprises and regulated industries like healthcare and banking.
Which companies hire finance systems managers in California?
Employers hiring finance systems managers in California right now include Anthropic, Intuit, and Block, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's density of Fortune 500 headquarters, major health systems, and large technology companies makes it one of the most active states for this role across industries.
Which California cities have the most finance systems manager jobs?
San Francisco, San Diego, and Sacramento account for the largest share of finance systems manager openings in California. San Francisco and San Jose are driven by the concentration of technology companies and financial services firms that run complex, multi-system financial environments, while Los Angeles reflects demand from entertainment, healthcare, and large regional banks headquartered there.
Are there remote finance systems manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most finance roles. Finance systems managers spend the majority of their time in system configuration, reporting, and cross-functional project coordination, work that translates well to remote settings. About 92% of finance systems manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of distributed work for this function. Systems implementation projects that require on-site coordination with IT or operations teams are the most likely to remain hybrid.
How can I get hired as a finance systems manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an ERP analyst, financial systems analyst, or staff accountant role at a company running Oracle, SAP, or Workday, then building configuration and project experience from there. Large California employers in healthcare like Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health, along with technology firms in the Bay Area, regularly hire junior systems or finance operations analysts who develop into managers over time. Earning a Workday or SAP certification alongside a CPA or CMA gives early-career candidates a concrete edge in California hiring.
Where can I find and apply to finance systems manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to finance systems manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
