Finance Systems Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance systems manager in New York?
Finance systems managers in New York typically start with a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or information systems and build experience in ERP administration or financial operations roles. New York does not require a state-issued license for this position, but employers in the financial services sector strongly prefer candidates with a CPA, CFA, or an ERP vendor certification such as Oracle or SAP. Progression from roles like financial analyst, systems analyst, or accounting manager is the most common path into this position at New York firms.
Which companies hire finance systems managers in New York?
Employers hiring finance systems managers in New York right now include Axon, Fastly, and Ithaka, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's concentration of global banks, insurance carriers, and large healthcare networks makes it one of the deepest hiring markets for this role in the country.
Which New York cities have the most finance systems manager jobs?
The cities with the most finance systems manager openings in New York are New York, Buffalo, and Melville. New York City drives the largest share of demand given its density of global financial institutions, corporate headquarters, and large hospital systems, while Buffalo and Albany generate openings through regional banking, state government finance operations, and healthcare network administrators that rely on enterprise financial systems.
Are there remote finance systems manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most finance roles, since finance systems managers work primarily with software platforms, data, and documentation rather than physical facilities. About 75% of finance systems manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. System configuration, reporting, and project coordination tasks are the most commonly offered remotely, while go-live support and stakeholder training often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a finance systems manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a financial analyst or systems analyst role at a large New York employer, where exposure to ERP platforms like Oracle or SAP leads naturally into systems management responsibilities. Major New York financial institutions and hospital networks such as NYU Langone, Northwell Health, and large banking operations frequently hire junior finance or systems support staff and promote from within. Earning an ERP vendor certification or passing the CPA exam while in an entry-level role signals readiness for the manager track and gives candidates a meaningful edge in New York interviews.
