Financial Consultant Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial consultant in Missouri?
Most financial consultant roles in Missouri require passing FINRA licensing exams, most commonly the Series 7 and Series 66, which you register for through a sponsoring employer. Missouri does not issue its own state investment advisor license for representatives working under a registered firm, but independent advisors must register with the Missouri Secretary of State's Securities Division. A bachelor's degree in finance or a related field is the standard educational baseline, and the CFP designation significantly strengthens your candidacy at major Missouri firms.
Which companies hire financial consultants in Missouri?
Missouri financial consultant roles are posted by First Community Credit Union, Ryder System, and Federal Protection and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's status as the headquarters state for Edward Jones and Stifel Financial means the St. Louis metro alone generates a disproportionate share of the state's financial consulting openings.
Which Missouri cities have the most financial consultant jobs?
St. Louis, Warrenton, and Springfield are the cities with the most financial consultant openings in Missouri. St. Louis leads because it is home to the headquarters of Edward Jones and Stifel Financial, Kansas City follows as a major regional banking and corporate finance hub, and Springfield draws steady demand from its growing insurance and wealth management sector serving southwest Missouri.
Are there remote financial consultant jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since much of the analytical and planning work financial consultants do can be done from anywhere. About 50% of financial consultant openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly the industry adopted flexible arrangements. Client relationship roles tend to stay in-person or hybrid, while back-office financial planning and portfolio analysis positions offer the most fully remote options.
How can I get hired as a financial consultant in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a large Missouri firm as a financial advisor trainee or associate, then earning your FINRA licenses on a sponsored timeline. Edward Jones runs a structured new-advisor development program out of its St. Louis headquarters that is specifically designed for candidates without prior financial services experience. Banking institutions across the Kansas City and St. Louis metros regularly post personal banker and investment services associate roles that serve as direct stepping stones to consultant titles, and completing a CFP exam program while in one of those roles accelerates the transition considerably.
Where can I find and apply to financial consultant jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to financial consultant jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings across St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and surrounding areas. Find the roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly to the employers posting them.
