Healthcare Sales Representative Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare sales representative in Pennsylvania?
Most healthcare sales representatives in Pennsylvania enter the field with a bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or marketing, then gain experience in a related sales or clinical role before moving into a dedicated sales territory. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license specifically for healthcare sales, but many employers prefer candidates who hold a valid CNPR certification from the National Association of Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives or equivalent industry credential. Starting in inside sales or as a clinical specialist at a Pennsylvania hospital system or specialty distributor is a common entry path.
How much do healthcare sales representatives make in Pennsylvania?
Healthcare sales representatives in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $64,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,270 for the lowest 10% to over $133,980 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire healthcare sales representatives in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring healthcare sales representatives in Pennsylvania right now include Expivia Interaction Marketing Groups, Stantec, and InnovAge, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Pennsylvania's dense concentration of health systems, specialty pharmacies, and pharmaceutical headquarters in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh corridors consistently generates openings across product lines and therapeutic areas.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most healthcare sales representative jobs?
Erie, Philadelphia, and Glenside have the most healthcare sales representative openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its concentration of major pharma and biotech firms, large hospital networks like Jefferson Health and Penn Medicine, and regional payer headquarters, while Pittsburgh draws steady hiring from UPMC's expansive health system and the medical device companies that support it, and Allentown's growth as a healthcare hub along the I-78 corridor adds additional demand.
Are there remote healthcare sales representative jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're limited. Healthcare sales is primarily a field-based role requiring in-person calls on physicians, hospital buyers, and pharmacy accounts, which caps the share of fully remote positions. About 75% of healthcare sales representative openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with most of those being inside sales, account management, or strategic accounts roles that rely more on phone and virtual outreach than territory travel.
How can I get hired as a healthcare sales representative in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a sales development or inside sales role at a Pennsylvania-based specialty distributor or regional health system, then transitioning into a field territory role. Large Pennsylvania employers such as AmerisourceBergen and Cigna Healthcare run associate representative and rotational programs aimed at candidates without prior pharma sales experience. A CNPR certification, a degree in biology or business, and prior B2B sales experience in any industry all strengthen your candidacy significantly when applying to these competitive entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare sales representative jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to healthcare sales representative jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings. Find roles that fit your experience and territory preference and apply directly to each one.
