Your Role on the Team:
As a key member of the Human Resources leadership team, you will drive HR transformation and elevate the function from tactical support to a true strategic business partner for the U.S. Transportation business ($800M in revenue). You will lead the modernization of HR processes, systems, and capabilities while building a high-performing HR team that delivers measurable impact across the organization. The U.S. Transportation business has faced several macro and micro challenges over the past few years and the HR Director will provide outstanding leadership and stewardship to the business, putting it back in growth mode while driving operational and people performance. He/she will provide focused leadership and direction to the business with an emphasis on maintaining a continuous improvement culture that strives to drive excellent customer service and a focus on profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the HR transformation agenda, including process automation, technology adoption, and the strategic partnership of HR services to reduce complexity and increase efficiency.
- Design and implement forward-looking talent strategies, with a strong focus on training, development, and succession planning to build leadership bench strength across the organization.
- Partner with executive leadership to shape and communicate HR strategy, policies, and initiatives that support business growth, including M&A integration and new market/start-up operations.
- Drive a high-performance culture through strategic employee relations, proactive employment law management, and executive-level coaching on complex people issues.
- Oversee HR operations for the business while collaborating with HR Centers of Excellence, ensuring clear accountability, smooth handoffs between teams, and an exceptional candidate and associate experience.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external employment counsel, manage employment-related litigation and government inquiries, and provide regular strategic reporting and insights to the executive team.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders at all levels on strategic workforce matters, change management, and organizational effectiveness.
What You Need (Requirements):
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role managing HR teams (hourly and salaried).
- Significant experience in labor relations, employment law, and handling complex employee relations matters.
- Demonstrated success working in multi-state and multi-site environments.
- Proven track record of leading HR transformation, implementing HR technology solutions, and driving process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-SCP certification highly preferred.
- Experience supporting M&A activity and national operations.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and present complex information clearly to executive teams and boards.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze workforce metrics and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
