Human Resources Associate Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources associate in Minnesota?
Most Minnesota employers expect a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field as the starting point. There is no state-issued license required to work as a human resources associate in Minnesota, but earning a credential like the SHRM-CP or the PHR through the HR Certification Institute strengthens your candidacy significantly. Minnesota employers in healthcare and financial services tend to prioritize candidates who combine a relevant degree with at least one recognized certification.
Which companies hire human resources associates in Minnesota?
Minnesota human resources associate roles are posted by Target, Loram, and Walmart and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large hospital systems, and regional financial institutions means steady, year-round demand from established employers rather than seasonal spikes.
Which Minnesota cities have the most human resources associate jobs?
Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Bloomington have the most human resources associate openings in Minnesota. Minneapolis anchors demand through its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and healthcare networks, while Saint Paul adds state government and nonprofit employers, and Rochester's market is driven largely by Mayo Clinic's expansive operations and affiliated healthcare organizations.
Are there remote human resources associate jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and they're fairly common, since much of the work involves documentation, HRIS management, and employee communications that translate well to remote settings. About 48% of human resources associate openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how desk-based the role largely is. Tasks like onboarding coordination and benefits enrollment support are the most frequently offered in fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a human resources associate in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for HR coordinator or HR assistant roles at large Minnesota employers such as Target, Securian Financial, or Allina Health, all of which run structured onboarding programs that develop new HR professionals on the job. A SHRM student membership and a completed SHRM-CP prep course signal commitment even without experience. Adjacent roles in payroll, administrative support, or customer service at Minnesota companies are also recognized stepping stones into associate-level HR positions.
Where can I find and apply to human resources associate jobs in Minnesota?
