Human Resources Intern Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources intern in Tennessee?
Most human resources intern roles in Tennessee require current enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field. Tennessee does not impose a state-issued license for HR interns specifically. Candidates strengthen their applications by completing coursework in employment law and compensation and by pursuing the SHRM-CP or PHR credential, both of which are recognized by Tennessee employers as indicators of professional readiness.
Which companies hire human resources interns in Tennessee?
Companies currently hiring human resources interns in Tennessee include Philips, Orgill, and Pilot Flying J, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of large healthcare networks, logistics hubs, and regional financial institutions means internship openings appear consistently throughout the year rather than only during traditional summer recruiting cycles.
Which Tennessee cities have the most human resources intern jobs?
Erwin, Brentwood, and Knoxville hold the most human resources intern openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, major hospital systems, and a growing technology and financial services sector, while Memphis is driven by logistics giants and regional healthcare networks, and Knoxville reflects demand from the University of Tennessee system, TVA, and advanced manufacturing employers in the eastern part of the state.
How can I get hired as a human resources intern in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured internship programs at large Tennessee employers such as HCA Healthcare, Nissan's Smyrna operations, or regional banks headquartered in Nashville, all of which recruit students with no prior HR experience. On-campus involvement in SHRM student chapters at the University of Tennessee or Belmont University signals initiative and connects candidates to local hiring managers. Roles in administrative support, payroll processing, or front-desk operations at Tennessee staffing agencies also serve as common lateral moves into HR internships.
