How do you become a insurance account manager in New Jersey?
The concrete first step is obtaining a New Jersey producer license through the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, which requires passing a state-administered exam in your chosen line of authority, either Property and Casualty or Life and Health. Most employers also expect a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. From there, entry roles such as account coordinator or service representative build the hands-on book-of-business experience that moves candidates into full account manager positions.
How much do insurance account managers make in New Jersey?
Insurance account managers in New Jersey earn a median of about $81,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,330 for the lowest 10% to over $169,770 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire insurance account managers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring insurance account managers in New Jersey right now include State Farm, Oawins, and Vozza Agency, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and regional brokerage offices means both large national carriers and independent agencies maintain steady hiring pipelines throughout the year.
Which New Jersey cities have the most insurance account manager jobs?
Lodi, Florham Park, and S Plainfield have the most insurance account manager openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City draw the bulk of positions because of their dense financial services and corporate headquarters base, while Parsippany attracts volume from national carriers and large regional brokerages that have established long-term operations in Morris County.
Are there remote insurance account manager jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, since much of the account management work involves phone, email, and digital platforms rather than on-site visits. About 70% of insurance account manager openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly agencies have adopted flexible arrangements post-pandemic. Renewals, coverage reviews, and carrier negotiations are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a insurance account manager in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as an account coordinator or customer service representative at a New Jersey independent agency or regional brokerage, where you gain direct exposure to policy administration and client communication. Large New Jersey employers such as regional agency groups often post associate account manager roles designed for candidates coming from adjacent positions in banking, financial advising, or inside sales.
