A company built to serve you. It's your career, Shelter it!
We are seeking an exceptional entrepreneur to make a difference in Carlisle, AR and become our newest Shelter Insurance Agent.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Do you have a desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, and become known in your community?
- Are you passionate about serving your community?
- Do you want to grow your sales, business, and networking skills to new heights?
- Would you like to do what you love and love what you do?
- Do you have a desire to control your own income?
- Have you wanted to start your own business but extreme start-up costs stopped you in your tracks?
If you answered “yes” to these questions, then you owe it to yourself to learn more about becoming a Shelter Insurance® Agent.
At Shelter, we do not require a previous background in the insurance industry. While the experience is a plus, it is far from a necessity. Around half of our new Shelter Agents have never worked in insurance; our agents have backgrounds ranging from real estate and retail sales to education and coaching.
What is required? A motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and skilled capacity for effectively communicating with clients in a sales atmosphere.
While some sales experience & a degree with general business courses is helpful, our mix of in-house and virtual new agent training schools, paired with continuing industry education courses, helps you build the foundation necessary to launch your agency.
At Shelter we do not require prospective agents to have capital/assets on hand to be considered for an agency. We do not “sell” agencies and Shelter does not “loan” money to agents to begin their business. We provide the opportunity. The only expectations are that you meet sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. If you are no longer a Shelter agent for any reason, your financial responsibilities are limited to any unsatisfied bills owed through your departure. This could include advertising contracts, telephone bills, and utilities.
A true business owner’s mindset is required to succeed! While developing prospects and selling Shelter products in your agency will be your main focus, you may also have the opportunity to bring on staff to help you perform general administrative duties and improve your sales.
If you possess a strong desire to be a business owner, a vigorous passion for helping people, and a desire to work for a company that strives to be a leader in its communities, then take the first steps to explore a partnership with Shelter Insurance Companies. Insurance Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance in Arkansas?
To work as a licensed insurance professional in Arkansas, you must obtain a producer license through the Arkansas Insurance Department. Candidates complete a state-approved pre-licensing education course, pass the relevant Arkansas licensing exam for their line of authority such as Property and Casualty or Life and Health, and submit a background check with their application. No college degree is required to sit for the exam, though employers commonly prefer candidates with a business or finance background.
Which companies hire insurances in Arkansas?
Arkansas insurance roles are posted by Kemper, State Farm, and Cleft of the Rock and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arkansas's mix of regional carriers, large self-insured employers, and independent agency networks means openings appear across a wide range of company sizes and lines of coverage.
Which Arkansas cities have the most insurance jobs?
Fayetteville, Conway, and Little Rock account for the largest share of insurance openings in Arkansas. Little Rock draws the most volume as the state capital and home to major carrier offices and third-party administrators, while Bentonville's concentration of large corporate employers generates strong demand for employee benefits and risk management roles, and Fort Smith supports a steady regional agency and claims market.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 64% of insurance openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on policy review, underwriting decisions, and claims documentation that translates well to distributed teams. Claims examiners, underwriters, and customer service representatives fill most of the remote postings, while field adjusters and agency producers typically remain in-person.
How can I get hired as a insurance in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Arkansas producer license first, then applying for customer service representative or insurance service agent roles at regional carriers or independent agencies in Little Rock and Bentonville. Employers like Shelter Insurance and USAble Life periodically hire unlicensed candidates into trainee positions and cover licensing costs. Moving laterally from banking or financial services customer service is a common route, and holding even a single line-of-authority license puts you ahead of most entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to insurance jobs in Arkansas?
You can find and apply to insurance jobs in Arkansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your license type and experience level, and apply directly to the positions that fit your background.
