Staff Accountant Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff accountant in Arkansas?
Most staff accountant roles in Arkansas require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Employers across Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas expect candidates to be familiar with GAAP and general ledger processes. While staff accountant positions themselves do not require a state license, pursuing CPA licensure through the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy strengthens your candidacy significantly. Sitting for the CPA exam requires completing the education hours the board specifies and passing all four sections.
Which companies hire staff accountants in Arkansas?
Companies currently hiring staff accountants in Arkansas include J.B. Hunt, USA Truck, and Happy, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arkansas's concentration of large retail, healthcare, and agricultural business headquarters means accounting departments here tend to be sizable and hire on a regular cycle.
Which Arkansas cities have the most staff accountant jobs?
Lowell, Rogers, and El Dorado have the most staff accountant openings in Arkansas. Little Rock leads as the state capital and home to major healthcare systems and financial institutions, while the Fayetteville and Bentonville corridor draws heavy demand from Walmart's global headquarters and its dense network of supplier and logistics companies.
Are there remote staff accountant jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 0% of staff accountant openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the work. Tasks like financial reporting, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation translate well to remote environments, while functions tied to physical inventory counts or on-site audits typically remain in person.
How can I get hired as a staff accountant in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounting internship or a bookkeeper role that transitions into a junior staff accountant position. Large Arkansas employers like Walmart and Baptist Health regularly bring on accounting graduates through structured rotational or new-hire programs. Starting as an accounts payable specialist or payroll assistant at a regional firm or state agency gives you hands-on general ledger exposure. Completing your bachelor's degree with a strong GPA and making early progress on the CPA exam gives you a clear edge over candidates without either.
Where can I find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Arkansas?
You can find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Arkansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the roles that fit your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that match what you're looking for.
