Insurance Sales Consultant Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales consultant in Vermont?
To become an insurance sales consultant in Vermont, you must obtain a producer license through the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation. You choose a line of authority, such as Life and Health or Property and Casualty, complete a state-approved pre-licensing course, pass the corresponding Prometric licensing exam, and submit your application to the department. Most employers also expect a high school diploma at minimum, though a bachelor's degree in business or finance strengthens your candidacy.
Which companies hire insurance sales consultants in Vermont?
Companies currently hiring insurance sales consultants in Vermont include State Farm, Church Pension, and Automobile Club of Missouri, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's strong mutual and cooperative insurance tradition means many of these employers offer both captive and independent distribution models, so openings vary in structure and product focus.
Which Vermont cities have the most insurance sales consultant jobs?
Williston, Bennington, and Vermont have the most insurance sales consultant openings in Vermont. Burlington drives the largest share of listings as the state's commercial and population center, home to regional carrier offices and a dense concentration of employee benefits clients, while Montpelier's role as the state capital supports positions tied to public-sector and association group accounts, and Rutland anchors hiring in Vermont's southern tier.
Are there remote insurance sales consultant jobs in Vermont?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical fields because insurance sales involves client relationship-building that many employers prefer to handle in person. About 100% of insurance sales consultant openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those that are remote tend to concentrate in inside sales, renewals account management, and group benefits administration rather than field sales roles.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales consultant in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Vermont producer license first, which signals commitment and lets employers hire you immediately. National Life Group and Union Mutual both run structured new-agent development programs that pair candidates with mentors and provide product training before independent selling begins. Candidates coming from banking, retail financial services, or customer-facing roles at Vermont credit unions often transition successfully into junior sales or service roles that lead to full consultant positions within a year.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales consultant jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to insurance sales consultant jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings from carriers, independent agencies, and benefits consulting firms. Search the listings, identify the roles that match your license type and experience level, and apply directly to each one through the posting.
