Sales Engineering Manager Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales engineering manager in Vermont?
The most direct path is building several years of hands-on sales engineering or solutions engineering experience before stepping into management. Vermont has no state-issued license specific to this role, so the hiring path runs through demonstrated technical depth and a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Employers at Vermont's manufacturing and SaaS companies typically promote from within or recruit candidates who have led small technical teams elsewhere.
How much do sales engineering managers make in Vermont?
Sales engineering managers in Vermont earn a median of about $138,650 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $87,170 for the lowest 10% to over $261,730 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales engineering managers in Vermont?
Employers hiring sales engineering managers in Vermont right now include GlobalFoundries, CVS Health, and Hazelett Corporation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's mix of semiconductor manufacturing, defense technology, and fast-growing software firms means openings appear across multiple industries rather than clustering in one sector.
Which Vermont cities have the most sales engineering manager jobs?
The cities with the most sales engineering manager openings in Vermont are Essex Junction, Colchester, and Montpelier. Burlington drives the largest share because it concentrates the state's technology employers, university-affiliated startups, and regional corporate offices, while surrounding communities like South Burlington and Williston host manufacturing and defense contractors that also carry technical sales leadership roles.
Are there remote sales engineering manager jobs in Vermont?
Yes, and more than many management roles, because sales engineering work is heavily meeting- and presentation-driven and translates well to remote environments. About 7% of sales engineering manager openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting national patterns in the software and SaaS segments. The parts of the role most likely to stay remote are pre-sales demonstrations, RFP responses, and team coaching calls.
How can I get hired as a sales engineering manager in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is transitioning from an individual-contributor sales engineer or solutions consultant role into a team lead position before pursuing a full manager title. Vermont employers in manufacturing and software, including firms in the Burlington technology corridor, often create informal team lead roles that serve as proving grounds. Building a portfolio of successful pre-sales cycles and requesting to mentor junior engineers signals readiness without requiring a prior manager title.
Where can I find and apply to sales engineering manager jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to sales engineering manager jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to each one that fits.
