IT Support Technician Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it support technician in Louisiana?
Louisiana does not require a state-issued license to work as an it support technician, so the path runs through education and industry certification. Most Louisiana employers expect at least a CompTIA A+ credential alongside an associate degree or technical diploma from a community or technical college, with programs available through institutions such as Delgado Community College and Louisiana Tech. Building hands-on experience through internships or volunteer IT work strengthens applications considerably.
Which companies hire it support technicians in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring it support technicians in Louisiana include T. Baker Smith, Courser, and RNGD, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Louisiana's strong healthcare, energy, and public-sector industries mean that hospital networks, oil and gas firms, and state agencies are among the most consistent sources of open positions.
Which Louisiana cities have the most it support technician jobs?
Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans account for the largest concentration of it support technician openings in Louisiana. New Orleans drives volume through its healthcare systems and hospitality technology infrastructure, Baton Rouge through state government offices and Louisiana State University, and Shreveport through regional medical centers and energy-sector operations that require dedicated on-site technical support.
Are there remote it support technician jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields because many it support technician duties require hands-on hardware work or on-site presence. About 43% of it support technician openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with those roles skewing toward help desk, ticketing, and software support functions rather than infrastructure or break-fix work.
