Key Account Manager Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a key account manager in Minnesota?
Most key account manager roles in Minnesota require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Employers across the Twin Cities and Rochester consistently favor candidates who have moved up from inside sales, territory sales, or customer success roles. Earning a Certified Strategic Account Management Association credential can strengthen an application, and experience in Minnesota's dominant sectors, including medical devices, health IT, or industrial manufacturing, is a meaningful differentiator.
How much do key account managers make in Minnesota?
Key account managers in Minnesota earn a median of about $76,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,680 for the lowest 10% to over $136,840 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire key account managers in Minnesota?
Companies currently hiring key account managers in Minnesota include UCB, EVERSANA, and ZURU, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and large regional employers in healthcare technology, industrial products, and financial services means key account manager openings appear consistently throughout the year.
Which Minnesota cities have the most key account manager jobs?
Minneapolis, Eden Prairie, and Wadena account for the largest share of key account manager openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro drives most of the volume given its density of corporate headquarters and regional offices in healthcare, technology, and professional services, while Rochester's concentration of medical device and health system employers supports a steady secondary market.
Are there remote key account manager jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most sales roles, since key account management is fundamentally a relationship and communication function that translates well to remote work. About 54% of key account manager openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting ongoing flexibility from employers headquartered in the Twin Cities. Strategic and enterprise-level roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while territory-focused positions often still require in-market travel.
How can I get hired as a key account manager in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a sales development, inside sales, or customer success role at one of the Twin Cities' large commercial employers and building a record of quota attainment before moving into a key accounts title. Companies like 3M, Ecolab, and UnitedHealth Group run structured early-career sales programs that frequently transition participants into account management tracks. A bachelor's degree in business or marketing, demonstrated CRM proficiency, and any Salesforce certification will make a candidate noticeably more competitive for that first step up.
Where can I find and apply to key account manager jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to key account manager jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and target employers, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
