Learning Development Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a learning development manager in Texas?
Most learning development manager roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, human resources, or organizational development, with many senior positions preferring a master's degree. Texas does not issue a state license for this role, so professional credentials carry the most weight: the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development or the Association for Talent Development's CPTD are widely recognized by Texas employers. Building a portfolio of completed training programs and measurable outcomes is equally important for moving into management.
How much do learning development managers make in Texas?
Learning development managers in Texas earn a median of about $124,280 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,620 for the lowest 10% to over $202,490 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire learning development managers in Texas?
Employers hiring learning development managers in Texas right now include KFC, Google, and UT Southwestern Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large healthcare networks, and major technology campuses means hiring activity is spread across multiple industries rather than dominated by a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most learning development manager jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston have the most learning development manager openings in Texas. Dallas and Houston drive volume through their dense clusters of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and large hospital systems, while Austin's rapid tech-sector growth has made it one of the fastest-rising markets for L&D roles in the state.
Are there remote learning development manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 16% of learning development manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the fact that much of this work, including curriculum design, eLearning development, and virtual facilitation, translates naturally to distributed settings. Roles focused on in-person leadership development or onsite new-hire orientation tend to require a physical presence.
How can I get hired as a learning development manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an instructional designer or training coordinator role first, then building toward management. Large Texas employers such as HCA Healthcare, Dell Technologies, and major Dallas-Fort Worth financial firms regularly post associate-level training roles that serve as stepping stones. A completed portfolio demonstrating an end-to-end training project, even a volunteer or academic one, and an ATD certificate course give candidates a concrete edge over applicants with only a degree.
Where can I find and apply to learning development manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to learning development manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
