Management Consultant Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a management consultant in New York?
Management consulting in New York has no state-issued license or mandatory registration, so entry is credential and experience driven. Most firms hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a quantitative field, with top-tier firms strongly preferring MBA graduates from programs like Columbia Business School or NYU Stern. Building a specialty in a New York-dominant sector such as financial services, healthcare, or technology infrastructure significantly strengthens a candidacy.
Which companies hire management consultants in New York?
Employers hiring management consultants in New York right now include EY, Capgemini, and Alvarez & Marsal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of global financial institutions, major hospital systems, and Fortune 500 headquarters means consulting demand is sustained across both large strategy firms and specialized boutique advisory practices.
Which New York cities have the most management consultant jobs?
The cities with the most management consultant openings in New York are New York, Atlanta, and Brooklyn. New York City dominates by volume because of its concentration of global banks, private equity firms, and corporate headquarters that retain consulting practices on a recurring basis, while Albany and Buffalo generate openings primarily through state government reform initiatives and regional healthcare system engagements.
Are there remote management consultant jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of management consultant openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the project-based and analytical nature of the work. Strategy, research, and financial modeling phases of engagements are most amenable to remote delivery, while client-facing workshops and implementation work typically require on-site presence in New York.
How can I get hired as a management consultant in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a major firm as a business analyst or associate consultant, a role designed specifically for candidates without prior consulting experience. Firms like Deloitte, PwC, and Accenture run structured new-graduate analyst programs in their New York offices that provide rotational client exposure. Candidates who lateral from adjacent roles in investment banking, corporate finance, or healthcare administration at New York institutions are also competitively positioned, especially when they hold a CFA, CPA, or relevant graduate degree.
Where can I find and apply to management consultant jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to management consultant jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings in the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target location, and apply directly to each position.
