Market Research Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a market research in California?
Most market research roles in California require a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, social sciences, or a related field, with no state-issued license or registration required for the profession. Many California employers, particularly in technology and consumer goods, favor candidates who also hold a Google Analytics certification or a certificate in market research from a recognized program. Building a portfolio of research projects and gaining experience with data visualization tools strengthens a candidacy considerably in this market.
How much do market researches make in California?
Market researches in California earn a median of about $94,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,440 for the lowest 10% to over $181,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire market researchs in California?
Employers hiring market researchs in California right now include National Research, Intuit, and Amgen, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of technology firms, entertainment studios, and consumer brands means hiring activity remains broad and reaches well beyond traditional research agencies.
Which California cities have the most market research jobs?
Culver City, Irvine, and Dublin account for the largest share of market research openings in California. Los Angeles drives demand through its entertainment, consumer goods, and advertising industries, San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area draw heavily from technology and venture-backed companies, and San Diego's life sciences and defense sectors add a distinct concentration of product and customer research roles.
Are there remote market research jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Market research is largely desk-based and data-driven, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 80% of market research openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers in this field have embraced flexible work. Quantitative analysis, survey programming, and report writing are the tasks most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a market research in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a junior analyst or research associate role at a California-based market research firm or in-house insights team. Large California employers in consumer technology and media, including entertainment companies based in Los Angeles and software firms in the Bay Area, regularly post entry-level openings designed for recent graduates. A capstone research project, a certification in data analysis, or experience as a data analyst or marketing coordinator in an adjacent role all open the door effectively.
Where can I find and apply to market research jobs in California?
You can find and apply to market research jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and target location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
