Yoga Development & Marketing Manager
Part-Time | Approximately 20 Hours/Week | $25/Hour | Montclair, NJ
Yoga Mechanics is looking for a creative, organized, yoga-savvy Yoga Development & Marketing Manager to help manage and develop our teaching team, evolve our yoga and movement offerings, and strengthen how we connect with our community through our website, social media, and digital platforms. This role would work hand in hand with our Director of Operations and our Managing Partner.
This is a unique hybrid role for someone with a strong yoga teaching background who also brings marketing, digital, and technology skills. The role combines the practical responsibility of keeping our teaching schedule running smoothly with the opportunity to help shape what Yoga Mechanics offers next.
We believe the person guiding and developing our teaching team should also be part of our teaching community. The Yoga Development & Marketing Manager would initially join our schedule as a substitute instructor, providing an opportunity to become familiar with our students, teaching approach, and studio culture.
Responsibilities
Yoga Development & Teacher Leadership
We want someone who is genuinely curious about where yoga, movement, and wellness are going next. The goal is not to chase every trend, but to recognize meaningful shifts, understand what may resonate with our community, and help us continue to evolve while staying grounded in who we are.
- Manage the teaching schedule, substitutions, and coverage.
- Help recruit teachers who align with the Yoga Mechanics philosophy, teaching standards, and community.
- Organize and participate in teacher auditions.
- Support the onboarding and development of new teachers.
- Help organize continuing education.
- Observe teachers and provide thoughtful feedback, coaching, and support when appropriate.
- Help maintain quality and consistency across our classes.
- Identify opportunities and gaps within our current class offerings.
- Stay current on emerging trends in yoga, movement, mobility, fitness, recovery, and wellness.
- Bring forward ideas for new classes, workshops, formats, and experiences.
- Work with ownership to help shape the continued evolution of Yoga Mechanics.
Marketing & Digital
- Manage and improve our website, including class descriptions, teacher profiles, workshops, events, and other content.
- Help improve website navigation and the overall customer journey.
- Manage our social media presence and content.
- Develop and execute marketing for classes, workshops, events, teacher training, and studio initiatives.
- Manage and optimize our studio software and digital tools.
- Identify opportunities to make our digital systems easier for students, teachers, and staff.
- Help improve digital visibility, including basic SEO and online discoverability.
- Work with ownership on broader marketing and growth initiatives.
Qualifications
Yoga Background
- 5-7+ years of yoga teaching experience.
- 200-hour yoga teacher certification required; advanced training or 500-hour certification preferred.
- Strong Hatha Yoga background.
- Solid understanding of alignment, anatomy, and intelligent sequencing.
- Ability to teach and adapt yoga for a wide range of bodies, abilities, ages, and levels of experience.
- A commitment to making yoga accessible while maintaining the integrity and intention of the practice.
- Comfort observing other teachers and providing thoughtful, constructive feedback.
- Experience mentoring, training, or developing yoga teachers strongly preferred.
- Curiosity about emerging approaches within yoga, movement, mobility, recovery, and wellness.
Marketing & Digital Skills
- Hands-on experience managing and updating websites.
- Comfort with social media content and digital marketing.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Comfort learning and managing studio software and other digital platforms.
- Basic understanding of SEO and digital discoverability preferred.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Creative, curious, collaborative, and comfortable bringing forward new ideas.
Position Details
- Part-time: approximately 20 hours per week
- Compensation: $25/hour for the management role. Yoga teaching is compensated separately at the studio's standard instructor rate.
- Location: Montclair, NJ. Some work may be completed independently, but this is NOT a fully remote position. Regular studio presence is important for staying connected to our teachers, classes, and community.
