Henry Repeating Arms is seeking a results-driven Materials & Planning Manager to join our team in Rice Lake, WI.

The Materials & Planning Manager is responsible for the flow of material through the plant, from purchase order execution through stockroom accuracy to the released production schedule. This role makes sure the right material is in the right place at the right time, and that what the system says is on hand is actually on hand.

Responsibilities

• Lead the buyer team in day-to-day purchase order issuance, maintenance, and expediting
• Ensure purchase orders are placed on time and managed proactively
• Proactively identify and prevent material shortages through disciplined buying, supplier communication, and risk management
• Manage past-due PO backlog and drive resolution on late supplier commitments
• Own execution of the six-week job release window through the Scheduler, working from the master production schedule
• Balance schedule attainment against material availability and shop capacity
• Escalate constraints that cannot be resolved within the release window: supplier-caused shortages to the Sourcing Manager, capacity and priority conflicts to Operations and the Director of Supply Chain
• Maintain schedule stability; minimize churn introduced downstream of release
• Own physical inventory accuracy, cycle count program, and ABC-based count cadence
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for inventory discrepancies
• Own item master and planning parameter integrity: lead times, order policy, MOQ, order multiples, safety stock, ABC class, planner and buyer codes, kept aligned with Sourcing-negotiated terms
• Maintain bill of material accuracy and structure in the ERP; manage BOM change execution and effectivity dating
• Maintain accurate receiving, PO, and reject transactions that feed the Sourcing-owned supplier scorecard
• Own day-to-day PO follow-up and expediting; escalate delivery issues that buyers cannot resolve to the Sourcing Manager
• Provide delivery history and floor-level context to support Sourcing decisions on corrective action, award shifts, and supplier exits

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in materials, purchasing, planning, or inventory management, including at least 2 years leading people
• Demonstrated ability to make sound allocation, buying, and prioritization decisions under shortage pressure
• Strong ERP experience (Infor CSI / SyteLine or similar preferred), with hands-on understanding of MRP, PO management, item master setup, and planning parameters.
• Hands-on experience maintaining item master data and bills of material in an ERP, including change control
• Track record of building and sustaining cycle count or inventory accuracy discipline
• Strong Excel skills, including building reporting and analysis from ERP data extracts
• Comfort spending the majority of the day on the production floor and in the stockroom
• Ability to hold suppliers and internal partners accountable without escalating every issue
• Experience working with machined components, metals, or outside processing preferred.
• Experience in firearms, defense, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus but not required.

Pay is based on experience and qualifications.
