Materials Manager Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a materials manager in Wisconsin?
Most materials manager roles in Wisconsin require a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, or business. Wisconsin does not issue a state-specific license for this role, so employers rely on professional credentials such as the APICS Certified in Planning and Inventory Management or Certified Supply Chain Professional designations. Candidates typically build experience in purchasing, inventory control, or production planning before moving into a management position.
How much do materials managers make in Wisconsin?
Materials managers in Wisconsin earn a median of about $124,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,510 for the lowest 10% to over $201,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire materials managers in Wisconsin?
Companies currently hiring materials managers in Wisconsin include Plexus, ECS Limited, and WM, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Wisconsin's strong manufacturing base, particularly in heavy equipment, food production, and medical devices, means demand for materials managers is spread across both large corporations and mid-size regional producers.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most materials manager jobs?
Cudahy, Neenah, and Waukesha have the most materials manager openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee's concentration of manufacturing headquarters and healthcare systems drives the largest share of postings, while Green Bay and Madison contribute significantly through food and beverage production, distribution centers, and university-affiliated healthcare supply chains that anchor hiring in those markets.
Are there remote materials manager jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, but they're rare. Materials management is a hands-on role that typically requires overseeing physical inventory, coordinating with warehouse staff, and working directly with production floors, which limits full-remote arrangements. About 25% of materials manager openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with procurement analysis and vendor management being the functions most likely to allow off-site flexibility.
How can I get hired as a materials manager in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a purchasing assistant, inventory analyst, or production scheduler role at a Wisconsin manufacturer or health system, then building toward management. Large employers like Oshkosh Corporation and Advocate Aurora Health often hire for these associate-level supply chain positions. Completing an APICS student membership and earning the Certified in Planning and Inventory Management credential while in an entry role significantly strengthens a candidate's profile for promotion into materials management.
Where can I find and apply to materials manager jobs in Wisconsin?
You can find and apply to materials manager jobs in Wisconsin on Migrate Mate, which lists current Wisconsin openings. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
