Job Description
The Media Operations Specialist is a critical individual contributor within NBCUniversal’s Media Operations organization, responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and reliable fulfillment of media content across NBCUniversal’s distribution platforms. This role supports the end-to-end digital supply chain, including quality control, troubleshooting, workflow execution, and cross-functional coordination, while upholding operational reliability, technical accuracy, and service-level commitments.
The Media Operations Specialist serves as both a hands-on operator and a subject-matter resource, acting as an escalation point for complex issues and supporting continuous improvement through SOP development, training, and workflow optimization.
Basic Requirements:
- Execute day-to-day media operations workflows including quality control, and distribution for NBCUniversal content across broadcast, digital, and international platforms.
- Perform thorough technical and content QC on digital media assets to ensure compliance with internal and external delivery specifications.
- Validate encoded and transcoded files across multiple formats, codecs, and delivery profiles with a high expectation of accuracy and zero-defect output.
- Support inbound and outbound asset workflows, ensuring assets are sourced, prepared, and delivered on time.
- Serve as an escalation point for technicians and operations staff for complex workflow, system, or asset-related issues.
- Troubleshoot media prep, QC, and delivery issues in real time, following defined escalation and communication protocols.
- Document issues, root causes, and resolutions, partnering with Supervisors, Engineering, Product, and Support teams to implement long-term fixes.
- Assist with the creation, maintenance, and publication of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure operational consistency and reliability.
- Support testing, rollout, and implementation of new systems, tools, workflows, and process enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and quality across media operations workflows.
- Support team training initiatives, including onboarding, workflow updates, and cross-training across media operations functions.
- Assist Supervisors with maintaining training documentation and training matrices.
- Partner closely with Program Operations, Technical Operations, QC, and other internal stakeholders to ensure successful asset fulfillment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in media operations, broadcast operations, post-production, media prep, or digital content fulfillment.
- 1+ year of experience on Non-linear editing/QC tools (Adobe Premiere, Avid, Iris QC Pro).
- Prior experience working with digital media file types - QuickTime, MXF, MPEG, Mp4 etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document and escalate issues.
- Experience working with media asset management, QC, and workflow systems.
- Experience performing technical quality control of video and audio content.
- Experience supporting 24/7 or high-availability media operations environments.
- Prior experience assisting with SOP creation or operational training.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy.
- Must be willing and able to work evenings and nights, even on the weekend or holidays, sometimes on short notice, in support of the 24/7, 365 operations.
Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000.
