Registered Nurse Operating Room Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registered nurse operating room in Florida?
You must hold an active Florida RN license issued by the Florida Board of Nursing, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN after completing an accredited ADN or BSN program. From there, most Florida hospitals require completing a dedicated perioperative nurse internship or OR residency before working independently in the surgical suite. Earning CNOR certification through AORN strengthens your candidacy significantly in Florida's competitive OR market.
How much do registered nurse operating rooms make in Florida?
Registered nurse operating rooms in Florida earn a median of about $84,190 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,970 for the lowest 10% to over $120,330 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire registered nurse operating rooms in Florida?
Employers hiring registered nurse operating rooms in Florida right now include HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, United Surgical Partners, and American Traveler, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's density of large multi-hospital systems and freestanding ambulatory surgery centers means consistent perioperative openings appear across both urban medical corridors and growing suburban markets.
Which Florida cities have the most registered nurse operating room jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Jacksonville have the most registered nurse operating room openings in Florida. Miami and Orlando anchor the largest volumes due to their major academic medical centers and high-capacity trauma and surgical programs, while Tampa's growing HCA and AdventHealth presence drives strong demand in the Hillsborough and Pinellas corridor.
Are there remote registered nurse operating room jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. Registered nurse operating room work is inherently hands-on and takes place in a sterile surgical environment, so the vast majority of roles require full on-site presence. About 0% of registered nurse operating room openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve perioperative education, surgical services coordination, or clinical documentation roles rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a registered nurse operating room in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a formal perioperative nurse residency or OR internship program, which large Florida systems including HCA Florida Healthcare and AdventHealth run specifically for RNs without surgical experience. Nurses coming from medical-surgical, PACU, or procedural units have the strongest lateral footing. Holding a current Florida RN license, BLS certification, and completing AORN's perioperative nursing education course before applying will give you a measurable edge over other new-to-OR candidates.
Where can I find and apply to registered nurse operating room jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to registered nurse operating room jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated in real time. Find roles that match your experience level and specialty interest, then apply directly to the employer through the listing.
