Registrar Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registrar in South Carolina?
Most registrar roles in South Carolina, particularly in healthcare, require a credential from the American Health Information Management Association, such as the Registered Health Information Technician, earned after completing an accredited health information management program and passing the national exam. Academic registrar positions at South Carolina colleges and universities typically require a bachelor's degree and experience in enrollment or student records. Court registrar roles are filled through South Carolina state government hiring and require familiarity with court administration procedures.
Which companies hire registrars in South Carolina?
Employers hiring registrars in South Carolina right now include State of South Carolina, College of Southern Nevada, and AnMed Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. South Carolina's large hospital networks, public university systems, and county court offices generate the most consistent registrar openings across the state.
Which South Carolina cities have the most registrar jobs?
Charleston, Greenwood County, and Columbia have the most registrar openings in South Carolina. Columbia leads because it is home to the University of South Carolina, the state government, and large hospital systems, while Greenville and Charleston drive volume through major medical centers like Prisma Health and MUSC, which require large patient access and health information teams.
Are there remote registrar jobs in South Carolina?
Yes, but they are limited. About 0% of registrar openings tied to South Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the fact that many registrar functions require in-person patient intake, court presence, or on-site records access. The sub-roles most likely to allow remote work are medical coding, health information review, and certain academic transcript processing functions.
How can I get hired as a registrar in South Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a patient access representative or admissions coordinator role at one of South Carolina's large hospital systems, such as Prisma Health or MUSC, which regularly bring on candidates who hold or are completing a health information management certificate. Community colleges like Midlands Technical College and Trident Technical College offer accredited health information programs that many employers accept in place of prior work history. For academic registrar tracks, starting as a student records assistant at a South Carolina public university gives direct exposure to the registration systems and processes required for advancement.
