Restaurant Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a restaurant worker in Missouri?
Most restaurant positions in Missouri do not require a state-issued license, but food handler certification through a Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services approved program is commonly expected. ServSafe is the most widely recognized option among Missouri employers. For management roles, completing a culinary or hospitality program at a Missouri community college or university strengthens your candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire restaurant workers in Missouri?
Employers hiring restaurant workers in Missouri right now include Love’s Travel Stops, Panera Bread, and Qdoba, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's mix of corporate headquarters, casino resorts, and large university campuses creates consistent year-round demand across the state.
Which Missouri cities have the most restaurant jobs?
St. Louis, Kansas City, and Bridgeton have the most restaurant openings in Missouri. Kansas City and St. Louis drive volume through their large urban restaurant scenes, convention traffic, and sports venue concessions, while Springfield benefits from a concentration of regional chain headquarters and a large student population at Missouri State University.
Are there remote restaurant jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they're rare. About 6% of restaurant openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the fundamentally on-site nature of food service work. The roles most likely to offer any remote flexibility are corporate positions such as restaurant marketing, menu development consulting, or regional operations management.
How can I get hired as a restaurant worker in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a host, busser, or dishwasher role at a high-volume Missouri restaurant, where on-the-job training is standard and advancement to server or line cook is common. Large employers like Aramark operate dining accounts at Missouri universities and hospitals that routinely hire entry-level workers with no prior experience. Earning a ServSafe food handler certificate before applying gives candidates a clear edge over equally inexperienced applicants.
Where can I find and apply to restaurant jobs in Missouri?
