Restaurant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a restaurant worker in Texas?
Most restaurant positions in Texas require a Texas Food Handler Certificate, earned by completing an accredited food handler training course approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Managers and supervisors must additionally obtain a Texas Food Manager Certification from an accredited provider such as the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or ServSafe. No single statewide license governs all restaurant roles, but these credentials are required by Texas law for food handling and management positions.
Which companies hire restaurants in Texas?
Employers hiring restaurants in Texas right now include 7-Eleven, KFC, and Essential Restaurant Supplies, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large hospitality market, anchored by major metro tourism, sports, and convention activity, keeps demand from both national chains and independent operators consistently high throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most restaurant jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas have the most restaurant openings in Texas. Houston's size and diverse dining scene drive the largest volume of listings, while Dallas's corporate headquarters and entertainment districts fuel strong front-of-house demand, and San Antonio's tourism economy centered on the River Walk and convention industry supports steady openings across all restaurant roles.
Are there remote restaurant jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Restaurant work is almost entirely hands-on and location-specific, so remote arrangements are limited to a narrow set of roles. About 0% of restaurant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be in corporate training, menu development, or regional operations roles rather than in-venue service or kitchen positions.
How can I get hired as a restaurant worker in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a host, food runner, or dishwasher role at a high-volume Texas chain or hotel property, where structured onboarding is common. Large Texas employers like Whataburger, H-E-B deli and café operations, and Marriott properties run internal training programs that move entry-level hires into server or cook roles quickly. Completing a Texas Food Handler Certificate before applying demonstrates readiness and meets the legal requirement, giving candidates without experience a concrete advantage.
Where can I find and apply to restaurant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to restaurant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers across the state. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
