Restaurant Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a restaurant manager in Mississippi?
The most direct path is combining food service experience with a recognized food safety credential. Mississippi does not require a state-issued manager license beyond food handler compliance, but most employers expect a ServSafe Food Manager Certification, which is accepted statewide. A degree in hospitality management or business helps with larger operators, while candidates without a degree typically advance from shift supervisor or assistant manager roles at established Mississippi restaurants or hotel food and beverage departments.
Which companies hire restaurant managers in Mississippi?
Employers hiring restaurant managers in Mississippi right now include Cook Out Restaurants, Moe's Southwest Grill, and Popeyes, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Mississippi's Gulf Coast casino resorts and interstate corridor chains tend to post the most consistent openings year-round.
Which Mississippi cities have the most restaurant manager jobs?
Jackson, Hattiesburg, and Oxford account for the largest share of restaurant manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads as the state capital and largest metro with the broadest mix of independent and chain dining, while Biloxi and Gulfport benefit from heavy casino resort traffic along the Gulf Coast that sustains high-volume food and beverage operations regardless of season.
Are there remote restaurant manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. Restaurant management is an on-site, hands-on role, so the vast majority of openings require daily physical presence. About 0% of restaurant manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions typically involve regional or multi-unit oversight roles where administrative responsibilities can be handled off-site rather than floor-level management.
How can I get hired as a restaurant manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is starting as a shift supervisor or assistant manager at a full-service or fast-casual chain with a structured management training program. Large Mississippi operators including casino resort food and beverage departments and national chains with Gulf Coast footprints regularly hire from within. Earning a ServSafe Food Manager Certification before applying signals readiness, and lateral moves from kitchen or front-of-house team lead roles are a common bridge into a manager title.
Where can I find and apply to restaurant manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to restaurant manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer through each listing.
