Scrum Master Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a scrum master in New York?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a scrum master in New York, so the path runs through industry certification and experience. Most New York employers expect a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from the Scrum Alliance or a SAFe certification for larger enterprise environments. A bachelor's degree in a technical or business field is common, though not always required. Building hands-on Agile experience through project work, team coordination roles, or internal transitions from a business analyst or project coordinator position is the most common entry path.
How much do scrum masters make in New York?
Scrum masters in New York earn a median of about $116,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,740 for the lowest 10% to over $203,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire scrum masters in New York?
Employers hiring scrum masters in New York right now include New York Life, Capgemini, and Ascendion, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's financial services and technology sectors drive the highest volume of openings, with large banks, insurance carriers, and media companies consistently maintaining Agile delivery teams.
Which New York cities have the most scrum master jobs?
The cities with the most scrum master openings in New York are New York and Rochester. New York City dominates the distribution because the financial services, media, and technology industries headquartered there run large Agile programs, while Buffalo and Albany generate demand through regional bank operations, state government technology projects, and healthcare system modernization efforts.
Are there remote scrum master jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 30% of scrum master openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the coordination work is conducted through digital tools and video meetings. Sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, and stakeholder updates are the parts of the role most commonly handled fully remote.
How can I get hired as a scrum master in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is transitioning from a business analyst, project coordinator, or team lead role within a company that already runs Agile teams. Large New York employers in financial services and healthcare frequently hire internal candidates into junior scrum master or Agile team support roles. Earning a CSM certification before applying is a strong differentiator. Targeting companies that advertise Agile transformation initiatives, rather than mature delivery organizations, gives candidates without a formal scrum master title a better chance at an initial opportunity.
Where can I find and apply to scrum master jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to scrum master jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly from the listing.
