Solutions Engineering Manager Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions engineering manager in Rhode Island?
The concrete path in Rhode Island starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by hands-on experience as a solutions engineer or technical pre-sales consultant. Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license for this role. Employers here typically promote from within their solutions engineering teams or hire laterally from senior individual-contributor roles, so building a record of leading complex technical engagements and mentoring peers is the most direct route to a management seat.
How much do solutions engineering managers make in Rhode Island?
Solutions engineering managers in Rhode Island earn a median of about $175,910 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $124,410 for the lowest 10% to over $257,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire solutions engineering managers in Rhode Island?
Employers hiring solutions engineering managers in Rhode Island right now include CVS Health, UNFI, and IQVIA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's mix of insurance carriers, defense primes, and regional technology service firms means demand is spread across several sectors rather than concentrated in a single industry.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most solutions engineering manager jobs?
Rhode Island, Providence, and Bristol hold the most solutions engineering manager openings in Rhode Island. Providence anchors the market as the state's commercial and technology hub, while Woonsocket benefits from large corporate headquarters in insurance and healthcare IT, and East Providence draws openings from defense and professional services firms operating along the Route 195 corridor.
Are there remote solutions engineering manager jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than most fields, because solutions engineering management centers on client calls, virtual demos, and cross-functional coordination that translate well to distributed work. About 75% of solutions engineering manager openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and consultative nature of the role. The portions most commonly done remotely are discovery calls, proposal development, and pipeline reviews.
How can I get hired as a solutions engineering manager in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a senior solutions engineer or technical account manager role into a team-lead or player-coach position at one of Rhode Island's larger technology employers. Firms such as Amica Mutual and regional managed-service providers regularly bring on individual contributors who take informal ownership of junior engineers before a formal manager title follows. A cloud certification from AWS or Azure noticeably strengthens candidacy, and building a portfolio of documented wins from complex technical engagements is what Rhode Island hiring managers most consistently ask for.
