Position Summary and Responsibilities We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative Special Education Teacher who is committed to equity and excellence for all learners. The ideal candidate will support students with disabilities in achieving academic success through inclusive practices, specialized instruction, and strategic supports.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and IEP goals.
- Provide specially designed instruction, accommodations, and modifications to meet the needs of students with IEPs.
- Collaborate with co-teachers, ENL teachers, related service providers, and families to support inclusive instruction.
- Use data to monitor progress toward IEP goals, adjust instruction, and inform annual review processes.
- Engage in professional learning related to best practices in special education and inclusive instruction.
- Establish and maintain effective classroom management practices that create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
- Set and reflect on individual professional goals aligned to school priorities and instructional improvement.
- Actively participate in grade team meetings, PLCs, and school-wide initiatives.
- Engage in school community events to support student growth and strengthen relationships with families.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of the role, including communication, planning, punctuality, and collaboration.
- Demonstrate professionalism in communication and organization.
