Staff accountants work directly under the supervision of the in-charge accountants and account managers.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Be proficient in the preparation of corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax returns prepared by the firm.
- Assume responsibility for the completion of tax returns under the supervision of the in-charge accountant.
- Prepare and compile financial statements using the appropriate accounting methods.
- Be proficient in firm technology, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel; QuickBooks; and firm tax preparation and time and billing software.
- Obtain a working knowledge of tax and accounting research techniques and the various research sources in the firm library.
- Perform bookkeeping and payroll services for clients.
- Prepare accounting and tax workpapers, including trial balances, depreciation schedules, and debt amortization schedules
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Tax preparation experience a plus
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to organize work and prioritize and meet deadlines.
