Strategic Partnerships Manager Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategic partnerships manager in Virginia?
Most strategic partnerships manager roles in Virginia require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related discipline, though some employers in the defense and federal consulting corridor accept equivalent professional experience. Virginia does not have a state-issued license specific to this role. The most common path is progressing through sales, account management, or business development positions at Virginia-based technology firms, federal contractors, or healthcare organizations before moving into a dedicated partnerships function.
Which companies hire strategic partnerships managers in Virginia?
Employers hiring strategic partnerships managers in Virginia right now include Peraton, James Madison University, and Capital One, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Virginia's dense concentration of federal contractors, technology firms, and large financial services companies creates consistent, year-round demand for this role across multiple verticals.
Which Virginia cities have the most strategic partnerships manager jobs?
McLean, Reston, and Harrisonburg have the most strategic partnerships manager openings in Virginia. Northern Virginia drives the bulk of demand because of its massive federal contracting ecosystem and technology industry cluster, while Richmond draws hiring from financial services and healthcare employers, and Hampton Roads sees openings tied to defense and logistics organizations headquartered in that region.
Are there remote strategic partnerships manager jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than most fields, since strategic partnerships management is fundamentally a desk-based, relationship and negotiation role that translates well to distributed work. About 40% of strategic partnerships manager openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of flexible arrangements for this function. The strategy, pipeline management, and program design components of the role are most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a strategic partnerships manager in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a sales development, account coordinator, or business development representative role at a Virginia technology firm, federal contractor, or healthcare organization, then transitioning internally once you have pipeline and relationship management experience. Large Northern Virginia employers like government IT contractors often recruit for business development associate programs designed for early-career candidates. Building a portfolio of documented partner outreach, co-marketing projects, or alliance coordination work, even in adjacent roles, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying for junior partnerships positions.
