You become a tax services manager in North Dakota by earning a CPA license through the North Dakota State Board of Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Examination, completing a bachelor's degree with qualifying accounting credits, and meeting the experience requirement. Most managers reach the role after several years in public accounting at a firm, moving up from senior associate or tax senior positions as they build client and supervisory experience.
How much do tax services managers make in North Dakota?
Tax services managers in North Dakota earn a median of about $75,730 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,330 for the lowest 10% to over $124,960 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax services managers in North Dakota?
North Dakota tax services manager roles are posted by Intuit, Eide Bailly, and Brady Martz and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Regional firms with deep roots in North Dakota's agricultural and energy industries are among the most consistent hirers alongside corporate tax departments at larger Fargo-based financial institutions.
Which North Dakota cities have the most tax services manager jobs?
Fargo, Bismarck, and Minot have the most tax services manager openings in North Dakota. Fargo dominates because it is home to the state's largest concentration of regional accounting firms and corporate headquarters, while Bismarck draws openings from government-adjacent tax work and energy sector clients, and Grand Forks supports demand through its university-connected business community and regional firm offices.
Are there remote tax services manager jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 9% of tax services manager openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves software, document review, and client calls rather than on-site presence. Tax provision work and multi-state compliance reviews are the sub-areas most commonly offered with flexible or fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a tax services manager in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is entering a public accounting firm at the staff or senior associate level and building toward manager over several years. Fargo-based regional firms like Eide Bailly run structured associate programs that hire candidates straight from North Dakota State University or the University of North Dakota accounting programs. Sitting for the CPA exam early and gaining exposure to partnership or corporate returns gives candidates a clear edge when manager roles open internally.
