Which energy companies in Colorado sponsor H-1B visas?
Xcel Energy, Suncor Energy, Chevron, and Vestas are among the Colorado-based energy employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship activity on DOL disclosure records. Midstream and renewable energy developers operating along the Front Range and the San Luis Valley also appear in LCA filings. Sponsorship activity varies by role type, headcount needs, and the employer's existing immigration infrastructure.
Which cities in Colorado have the most energy H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Denver and its surrounding metro area account for the largest share of energy H-1B filings in Colorado, driven by corporate headquarters and regional operations offices. Greeley and Fort Collins see activity tied to upstream oil and gas work in the DJ Basin. Pueblo and the San Luis Valley have growing concentrations of renewable energy project roles, particularly in wind and solar development.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Colorado?
Roles that consistently appear in Colorado energy LCA filings include petroleum engineers, electrical engineers, environmental engineers, geoscientists, and power systems analysts. Software and data roles embedded within energy operations, such as SCADA systems engineers or energy data analysts, also qualify when the position requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. General operations or field technician roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find energy H-1B sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface energy roles in Colorado where employers have indicated H-1B sponsorship willingness. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings and cross-referencing DOL LCA disclosure data. Migrate Mate also provides context on sponsoring employers so you can focus your applications on realistic opportunities.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the energy sector?
Colorado's energy industry is split between fossil fuel operations concentrated in the DJ Basin and a growing renewable sector supported by state clean energy mandates. This means H-1B demand spans both traditional petroleum engineering disciplines and newer roles in wind, solar, and grid modernization. Employers in regulated utility segments, like Xcel Energy, tend to have more established immigration programs than smaller independent operators or early-stage renewable developers.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B energy jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
