Which energy companies sponsor H-1B visas in Arizona?
Arizona Public Service (APS), Salt River Project, and Tucson Electric Power are among the established utilities with histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for engineering and technical roles. Renewable energy developers active in Arizona, including First Solar, which operates a major manufacturing presence in the state, have also filed H-1B petitions. Sponsorship decisions depend on the specific role, workforce needs, and the employer's internal immigration policies at the time of hiring.
Which cities in Arizona have the most energy H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and its surrounding metro area, including Tempe and Scottsdale, account for the largest concentration of energy H-1B roles, driven by major utility headquarters and corporate offices. Tucson is a secondary hub, particularly for Tucson Electric Power and renewable project activity in southern Arizona. More rural areas may have project site roles, but the bulk of sponsored positions requiring degree-level qualifications are in the Phoenix metro.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. In Arizona's energy sector, this commonly includes electrical engineers, power systems engineers, renewable energy project developers, grid operations analysts, and environmental compliance specialists. General labor or technician roles that do not require a specialized degree as a standard entry requirement are unlikely to qualify.
How do I find energy H-1B sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters energy roles in Arizona where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. Rather than sorting through general job listings and guessing at visa policies, you can browse Arizona energy positions on Migrate Mate with sponsorship context already surfaced. It is a practical starting point for engineers and technical professionals targeting H-1B roles in Arizona's power and renewable energy sector.
Are there any Arizona-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the energy industry?
Arizona's rapid solar and grid modernization growth means demand for specialized energy engineers has been consistently strong, which can work in a candidate's favor when employers are motivated to sponsor. However, many energy project roles are tied to specific site locations, and prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are determined by the worksite county, which can affect how employers structure compensation. Project-based roles also raise questions about worksite changes that employers and immigration counsel need to manage carefully.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B energy jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
