This role is ideal for professionals with 8-12 years of experience who are ready to take the next step in their career. You will support and lead components of complex transportation projects across all phases—from planning and design to procurement and construction—while working closely with senior project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
The Track and Civil Engineer will lead the planning, design, and delivery of rail and transit track infrastructure across the U.S. This role is ideal for an experienced rail engineering professional with deep technical expertise in track design, alignment geometry, corridor integration, and multidisciplinary coordination.
You will play a key role in delivering complex rail projects—including LRT, heavy rail, commuter rail, and yard/maintenance facilities—while supporting the growth of our national Rail + Transit practice. This role can be based in any of our U.S. locations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the discipline lead for track design on major rail and transit projects across the U.S.
- Lead the development of horizontal and vertical alignments, turnouts, crossovers, special trackwork, and yard/maintenance facility layouts.
- Oversee preparation and review of engineering plans, specifications, design criteria, and technical reports.
- Conduct and review corridor studies, constructability analyses, phasing/staging plans, and design alternatives.
- Coordinate closely with signaling, traction power, overhead catenary systems (OCS), communications, civil, structural, and geotechnical teams to ensure integrated solutions.
- Provide senior-level technical review, quality assurance, and risk management guidance.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across project phases, including feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, final design, and construction support.
- Interface with clients, transit agencies, freight railroads, and regulatory authorities (e.g., FRA, state DOTs) to resolve technical issues and support decision-making.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical excellence and growth within the team.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client engagement, and strategic pursuits.
- Contribute to advancing TYLin’s best practices for track design, rail corridor integration, and constructibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in rail track design, including light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, or freight rail projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity).
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Proven experience leading complex rail infrastructure projects.
- Advanced knowledge of track geometry, alignment design, and corridor integration.
- Proficiency with industry design tools such as Bentley OpenRail, OpenRoads, InRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of applicable U.S. standards and guidelines, including AREMA, FRA regulations, and relevant state and local agency requirements.
- Experience coordinating with rail systems disciplines (signaling, OCS, traction power, communications).
- Solid understanding of constructability, staging, maintenance-of-way requirements, and operational constraints.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Experience working with U.S. transit agencies (e.g., MTA, LA Metro, CTA, MBTA) or Class I/short line freight railroads is highly desirable.

Which consulting companies sponsor E-3 visas in Florida?
Large professional services firms with Florida offices, including Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, Accenture, and Booz Allen Hamilton, have filed E-3 visa applications for consulting roles. Mid-sized IT consulting firms in Tampa and Orlando's technology corridors also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as E-3 sponsors. Sponsorship willingness varies by office, practice area, and hiring need, so direct outreach to recruiters is advisable.
Which cities in Florida have the most consulting E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads Florida for consulting E-3 opportunities, driven by its international business focus and the regional headquarters of several global advisory firms. Tampa has a growing financial and IT consulting cluster, particularly around Westshore and downtown. Orlando attracts management and technology consultants supporting its hospitality, healthcare, and defense sectors. Fort Lauderdale also sees demand, largely from firms serving South Florida's financial services industry.
What types of consulting roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires the role to meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning it must normally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Management consultants, IT consultants, financial advisory specialists, strategy analysts, and cybersecurity consultants regularly meet this threshold. Roles described as requiring any general degree, regardless of field, may not qualify. The degree field should correspond directly to the duties of the position.
How do I find consulting E-3 sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to find consulting roles in Florida where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Because E-3 sponsorship requires employer action, targeting firms that have sponsored in the past significantly improves your chances. Migrate Mate surfaces those employers so you can focus applications where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for consulting E-3 sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change federal E-3 requirements. Miami's bilingual business environment means some consulting roles emphasize Spanish fluency, which can strengthen a candidate's profile without affecting visa eligibility. Florida's concentration of international clients, particularly in financial services and trade advisory, creates niche consulting demand that aligns well with the international backgrounds many Australian E-3 applicants bring.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 consulting jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
