Which transportation companies in Florida sponsor Green Card visas?
Several large transportation employers in Florida have a track record of sponsoring employment-based Green Cards. American Airlines and Spirit Airlines, both with significant South Florida operations, have sponsored pilots, engineers, and operations staff. Carnival Corporation sponsors maritime professionals. Port authorities in Miami, Tampa, and Jacksonville, along with major freight and logistics companies operating through Florida's trade corridors, also appear in PERM labor certification filings.
Which cities in Florida have the most transportation Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads the state, driven by Miami International Airport, PortMiami, and a dense concentration of freight forwarding and airline operations companies. Jacksonville follows, anchored by JAXPORT and a growing logistics hub. Tampa is another active market, with Port Tampa Bay and regional distribution networks. Orlando sees demand in aviation and ground transportation tied to its tourism and cargo sectors.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Florida?
Roles that typically support Green Card sponsorship in Florida's transportation sector include civil and transportation engineers, logistics and supply chain managers, port operations specialists, aircraft maintenance engineers, maritime officers, and transportation planning professionals. These positions generally require at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, making them eligible under the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based preference categories through the PERM labor certification process.
How do I find transportation Green Card sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card, and by industry, so you can search directly for transportation roles in Florida without wading through jobs that don't sponsor. Migrate Mate aggregates positions from employers with documented sponsorship history, which saves significant time compared to manually screening postings across general job boards.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in transportation?
Florida's status as a major international trade gateway means transportation employers here frequently hire globally, which can make sponsorship more normalized than in smaller markets. However, roles tied to federal contracts or port security, particularly at U.S. Customs-designated facilities, may carry additional background requirements or citizenship preferences that can limit sponsorship eligibility. Verifying the specific position's requirements with the employer before applying is always advisable.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card transportation jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
