Which education employers in Kansas sponsor Green Cards?
The University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Wichita State University, and large K-12 districts such as Wichita Public Schools and Shawnee Mission School District have histories of sponsoring permanent residency for qualified educators. Sponsorship is most common for tenure-track faculty, researchers, and specialists in high-need teaching areas. Each employer's willingness to sponsor depends on the role, budget, and internal HR policy.
Which cities in Kansas have the most education Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Lawrence, Manhattan, and Wichita account for the largest share of education Green Card sponsorship activity in Kansas, driven by the presence of major research universities. Kansas City, Kansas also generates consistent demand, particularly within its large public school district. Overland Park has seen growth in private and charter education employers that occasionally sponsor permanent residency for specialized instructional roles.
What types of education roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Kansas?
Tenure-track and research faculty positions at Kansas universities most commonly support EB-1A, EB-1B, or EB-2 NIW petitions based on academic achievement. K-12 districts more often file EB-3 sponsorship for special education teachers, bilingual educators, and speech-language pathologists where documented shortages exist. Administrative and curriculum leadership roles at the district level can also qualify when a formal PERM labor certification process is completed.
How do I find education Green Card sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate aggregates education jobs in Kansas where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship, making it straightforward to filter by visa type and state without manually reviewing hundreds of postings. For Kansas specifically, searching by institution type, such as university or K-12 district, helps narrow results to roles where permanent residency sponsorship is most common. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer sponsorship history to help you prioritize applications.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in education?
Kansas has ongoing teacher shortages in special education, STEM subjects, and bilingual instruction, which can strengthen an employer's ability to complete the PERM labor certification step by demonstrating that qualified U.S. workers were not available. Kansas public universities operate under state employment regulations that may affect how quickly an institution can initiate sponsorship, so confirming timelines directly with the employer's HR or international office before accepting a position is advisable.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card education jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
