Which staffing companies sponsor H-1B visas in Maryland?
Several staffing firms with Maryland operations have filed H-1B visa petitions, including Apex Group, Aerotek, Staffmark, and Allegis Group, which is headquartered in Hanover, MD. These companies primarily sponsor H-1B workers for specialized internal roles such as technical recruiters, data analysts, and IT staffing consultants, rather than for the contract positions they place candidates into.
Which cities in Maryland have the most staffing H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Baltimore metro and the D.C.-adjacent suburbs, including Rockville, Bethesda, and Columbia, account for the majority of staffing H-1B sponsorship activity in Maryland. The proximity to federal agencies and a dense concentration of defense contractors in the I-270 corridor drives demand for specialized staffing professionals, making those areas the most active markets for sponsored roles.
What types of staffing roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in the staffing industry is generally limited to specialty occupation roles, meaning positions that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In Maryland, this commonly includes technical recruiters with IT or engineering backgrounds, workforce analytics specialists, and staffing operations roles tied to government contracting. General staffing coordinator and account management positions rarely meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I find staffing H-1B sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, industry, and state, making it straightforward to browse staffing H-1B sponsorship jobs in Maryland without sorting through employers who won't sponsor. You can filter directly for the staffing and recruiting category within Maryland to see active listings from companies that have a documented history of H-1B filings.
Are there any Maryland-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in staffing?
Maryland's staffing sector is heavily shaped by its proximity to federal agencies and defense contractors, which means many staffing roles require security clearances or clearance eligibility. H-1B holders can hold security clearances in some cases, but the adjudication process is more complex and not guaranteed. Candidates targeting federal-adjacent staffing firms in Maryland should research clearance eligibility carefully before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B staffing jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
