The Assistant Banquet Manager supports the leadership of the Event Services, Event Beverage, and Event Set Up team as they service 130,000 sq. feet of meeting space. This role is a highly detailed role within the hotel to complete event requirement and create an appealing experience for guests.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Client Experience & Operations:
- Assist the Manager in exceeding client expectations during functions to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Welcome guests and respond promptly and professionally to requests or concerns.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate hotel and guest expectations before setups.
- Maintain consistent quality and product throughout banquet events.
- Liaise with the CS team post-function to ensure the room is reset according to DDR specifications.
- Review EOs/diagrams/DDRs and oversee VIP function room preparations to exacting standards.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Assist with scheduling and the delegation of daily tasks.
- Coach and counsel team members in line with Hyatt service procedures.
- Conduct or ensure timely completion of training and evaluations.
- Motivate, mentor, and support team members; resolve on-the-job issues effectively.
- Oversee Beverage Bar team.
- Coordinate efforts with decorators, caterers, AV, custodial, and banquet staff.
Room Setup & Quality Control:
- Inspect and ensure meeting spaces meet cleanliness, equipment functionality, and guest specifications.
- Ensure proper equipment and amenities are staged and set for each function including glassware, service ware, and linen.
- Monitor temperature, lighting, and overall room presentation before and during events.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of progressive hotel or banquet experience, preferably in a supervisory or assistant manager role.
- Prior experience as an Event Services/Banquet Supervisor or Assistant Banquet Manager.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Fluency in Spanish is a strong asset.
- Physically agile; ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift moderate weight.
- Full schedule flexibility, including AM & PM shifts, weekends, and holidays. This position is primarily PM shift.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with guests and team members of all backgrounds.
