Which government companies sponsor visas in New Hampshire?
Major government employers sponsoring visas in New Hampshire include the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, New Hampshire state government agencies, the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manchester, and various federal contractors. The Naval Shipyard particularly sponsors engineers and technical specialists, while state agencies typically sponsor specialized roles in IT, environmental science, and public health that require specific expertise not readily available domestically.
How to find government visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international professionals with government visa sponsorship opportunities in New Hampshire. The platform filters roles by sponsorship availability and includes positions with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, state agencies in Concord, and federal contractors. Focus your search on technical roles, cybersecurity positions, and specialized engineering jobs where government employers commonly sponsor qualified international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for government roles in New Hampshire?
H-1B visas are most common for government roles in New Hampshire, particularly for cybersecurity specialists, engineers, and IT professionals at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and federal agencies. O-1 visas occasionally appear for researchers and specialized consultants working with government contractors. Some positions may qualify for TN visa status for Canadian and Mexican professionals, especially in engineering and scientific roles requiring specific technical expertise.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most government sponsorship jobs?
Portsmouth leads government visa sponsorship opportunities due to the Naval Shipyard's continuous need for specialized engineers and technical professionals. Concord follows as the state capital, hosting various state agencies that sponsor roles in environmental science, public health, and IT. Manchester also offers opportunities through the VA Medical Center and federal contractor positions, while smaller numbers exist in Nashua and Durham near university research partnerships.
Do government jobs in New Hampshire require security clearances for visa holders?
Many government positions in New Hampshire, especially at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and federal agencies, require security clearances that non-citizens cannot obtain. However, some roles are specifically designated as clearance-eligible, meaning visa holders can be sponsored and potentially obtain clearances after starting employment. State government positions typically have fewer clearance requirements, making them more accessible to international professionals seeking sponsorship opportunities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored government jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
