Which energy companies sponsor Green Card visas in New Jersey?
PSEG is among the most active sponsors, particularly for electrical engineers and grid operations roles at its Newark headquarters. Ørsted, which operates offshore wind projects off the New Jersey coast, has sponsored workers in project development and engineering. Smaller transmission firms, environmental consultancies, and LNG infrastructure companies in the state also have established Green Card sponsorship histories, typically through EB-2 or EB-3 preference categories.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most energy Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Newark leads the state, anchored by PSEG's corporate headquarters and proximity to major transmission infrastructure. Trenton sees activity tied to state energy regulatory and utility administration roles. Along the coast, Atlantic City and surrounding Ocean County communities have grown as offshore wind development accelerates. Edison and Parsippany also host regional offices for energy services and engineering firms that periodically sponsor Green Card petitions.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in New Jersey?
Electrical and power systems engineers, renewable energy project managers, environmental engineers, grid reliability analysts, and energy policy specialists are among the roles New Jersey energy employers most commonly sponsor. Positions requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field generally qualify under EB-2 or EB-3 categories. Roles tied to offshore wind permitting, transmission planning, and grid modernization have seen growing sponsorship activity as New Jersey expands its clean energy infrastructure.
How do I find energy Green Card sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles, including energy Green Card jobs in New Jersey. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface positions where employers have an established history of sponsoring Green Cards. This is more targeted than general job searching because the listings are curated for sponsorship eligibility, saving significant time when navigating the New Jersey energy market.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in New Jersey's energy sector?
New Jersey's aggressive clean energy mandates, including its offshore wind capacity targets, have created sustained demand for specialized workers that can support employer willingness to pursue Green Card sponsorship when domestic candidates are scarce. The state's proximity to PJM Interconnection's service territory means grid-related roles are technically complex, which can strengthen EB-2 eligibility arguments. PERM labor certification timelines still apply and are not affected by state energy policy.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card energy jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
