Which investment management companies in New Jersey sponsor H-1B visas?
Prudential Financial in Newark is one of the state's most consistent H-1B visa sponsors in investment management. Other active filers include Voya Financial, Broadridge Financial Solutions, and various quantitative hedge funds concentrated in Jersey City and the Route 1 corridor near Princeton. Smaller registered investment advisers also file H-1B petitions, though less frequently than large institutional asset managers.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City accounts for a significant share of New Jersey's investment management H-1B activity, largely due to its density of financial services back-office and front-office operations directly across from Manhattan. Newark, Princeton, and Parsippany are also notable, hosting major insurers, asset managers, and financial technology firms that regularly sponsor H-1B workers in investment-related roles.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in New Jersey?
Roles that consistently qualify include quantitative analysts, portfolio analysts, risk analysts, financial engineers, and compliance analysts, as these positions typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as finance, mathematics, statistics, or computer science. Research associate and investment operations roles may also qualify when the employer can document a degree requirement tied directly to the position.
How do I find investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter by visa type and state to surface investment management roles in New Jersey where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. Because sponsorship willingness is often not stated in job postings, using a platform that cross-references employer filing data, as Migrate Mate does, saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship later.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in investment management?
New Jersey investment management employers are subject to the same federal H-1B requirements as any U.S. employer, but the state's concentration of SEC-registered investment advisers and broker-dealers means that certain roles also require FINRA licensing, which is separate from the H-1B process. Employers in highly regulated sub-sectors like hedge funds and private equity may also conduct more thorough background checks before initiating H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B investment management jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
