Which energy companies sponsor H-1B visas in New Jersey?
PSEG, one of the largest utility companies in the Northeast, has a consistent history of H-1B visa filings for engineering and technical roles at its Newark headquarters. NRG Energy, ExxonMobil, and Hess Corporation also have significant New Jersey presences and have sponsored H-1B workers in energy-related positions. Smaller renewable energy developers and grid infrastructure contractors in the state also file H-1B petitions, particularly for specialized roles.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most energy H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Newark is the primary hub, home to PSEG's headquarters and a concentration of utility and power sector employers. Parsippany and Florham Park host regional offices for energy and petrochemical firms. The Route 1 corridor between Princeton and New Brunswick also has energy-adjacent employers in research and engineering. Woodbridge and Edison see activity tied to power infrastructure and energy services companies.
How do I find energy H-1B sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B sponsorship, letting you filter by industry and state to surface energy roles in New Jersey from employers with verified sponsorship histories. Because sponsorship willingness is not always stated in standard job postings, using a platform that tracks employer H-1B filing data helps narrow your search to companies that have sponsored international workers in energy roles before.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in New Jersey?
Roles that qualify for H-1B sponsorship must meet the specialty occupation standard, requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the position. In New Jersey's energy sector, this commonly includes electrical engineers, power systems engineers, energy analysts, environmental engineers, and grid automation specialists. Roles in renewable energy project development, utility operations technology, and energy data science also regularly appear in H-1B filings from New Jersey employers.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in New Jersey's energy sector?
New Jersey has an active offshore wind development program, which has increased demand for specialized engineers and project professionals, some of whom are sponsored on H-1B visas. The state's proximity to the PJM Interconnection grid region means employers often seek candidates with grid operations or energy market expertise. New Jersey also has relatively strong environmental regulations, so roles tied to compliance and environmental engineering are consistently in demand from sponsors in the energy space.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B energy jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
