We're helping businesses get off the ground by enabling them to focus on running their business. We solve HR issues. We're data-driven and never stop iterating. If you'd like to work in a supportive, entrepreneurial environment, are interested in building something meaningful and having fun while doing it, we'd love to hear from you.
We're united by shared goals and shared motivations at Justworks. These are best summed up in our company values, which are reflected in our product and in our team.
Who You Are
Not only do you have broad and deep knowledge of software development technologies, but you are also deeply curious about how knowledge flows through complex organizations. You enjoy designing systems that make information easier to structure, store, retrieve, and reuse across teams and tools.
You have a strong sense of empathy for both technical and non-technical collaborators and are able to translate complex system designs into concepts that content designers, product managers, and business stakeholders can understand.
You are particularly excited about the emerging intersection of AI systems, structured knowledge, and modern content infrastructure. You enjoy building foundational systems that enable others—engineers, designers, support teams, and AI tools—to work more effectively.
In this role, you will partner closely with content strategists, designers, and product teams to build the infrastructure that powers Justworks' internal knowledge systems and AI capabilities. This work includes designing systems that store structured knowledge, expose it through APIs, and enable downstream tools—including AI assistants—to retrieve reliable context.
Your Success Profile
What You Will Work On
- Design and build the foundational infrastructure that enables structured knowledge to be stored, versioned, and retrieved across the organization
- Partner with Content Design, Product, and Engineering teams to translate knowledge architecture (taxonomy, content models, decision tables, and policy relationships) into technical systems
- Stand up and configure a headless CMS platform that implements the organization's knowledge operating model, translating content models, taxonomy, and governance structures defined by Content Design into scalable technical systems
- Develop APIs and services that expose structured knowledge to internal tools, AI assistants, and future product experiences
- Build and maintain integrations between knowledge storage systems and AI tooling, including retrieval pipelines and experimentation with RAG-based architectures
- Prototype using lightweight tooling (e.g., Git-based content repositories, markdown workflows, and developer-friendly authoring environments)
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to identify opportunities where structured knowledge can improve product development workflows and AI capabilities
- Evaluate and recommend technology approaches for knowledge storage and delivery (e.g., headless CMS platforms, structured content repositories, search infrastructure)
- Establish scalable patterns for content versioning, governance workflows, and structured metadata management
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the system supports internal enablement needs such as SOPs, policies, decision trees, and operational guidance
- Continuously iterate on the architecture as the organization's knowledge systems mature and new use cases emerge

Which accounting companies in New York sponsor visas most frequently?
The Big Four accounting firms - PwC, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG - are the largest visa sponsors for accounting roles in New York. Regional firms like Marcum LLP, CohnReznick, and BDO also regularly sponsor H-1B and other work visas. Many of these firms have established visa sponsorship programs specifically for international graduates from New York's accounting programs.
How to find accounting visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Start your search on Migrate Mate, which filters accounting positions specifically from visa-sponsoring employers in New York. Focus on applying during recruiting seasons (fall for Big Four firms) and leverage connections from CPA societies and university alumni networks. Target firms with established international recruitment programs and consider specialized areas like forensic accounting or tax advisory where demand is particularly high.
What visa types are most common for accounting professionals in New York?
H-1B visas are the primary pathway for accounting roles in New York, especially for positions requiring CPA certification or specialized expertise. O-1 visas are occasionally used for exceptional accountants with unique qualifications. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican CPAs, while E-3 visas are available for Australian accounting professionals. L-1 visas apply to accountants transferring within multinational firms.
Which New York cities have the most accounting visa sponsorship opportunities?
Manhattan dominates with the highest concentration of sponsoring firms, particularly in the Financial District and Midtown areas where major accounting firms and Fortune 500 companies are headquartered. Albany offers opportunities with state government agencies and regional firms. Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse provide options with regional accounting practices and mid-sized corporations, though at lower volumes than NYC.
Are there specific requirements for international accountants seeking sponsorship in New York?
Most sponsoring firms require or prefer CPA certification or eligibility, which often means completing additional coursework to meet New York's 150 credit hour requirement. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and tax regulations is essential. Many firms recruit heavily from New York universities like NYU Stern, Columbia, and Baruch College, making local educational credentials valuable for networking and placement.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
