Which insurance companies sponsor H-1B visas in North Carolina?
Several large insurance employers in North Carolina have a documented history of H-1B visa filings, including Allstate, Lincoln Financial Group, Brighthouse Financial, and Nationwide. Reinsurers and specialty carriers operating in Charlotte also appear in DOL Labor Condition Application records. Sponsorship patterns vary by role and business unit, so reviewing LCA disclosure data for specific employers is the most reliable way to confirm sponsorship activity.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte is the dominant hub for insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in North Carolina, driven by its concentration of financial services and insurance carriers. The Research Triangle area, spanning Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, is a secondary market with growing insurtech and analytics hiring. Smaller pockets of insurance employment exist in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, though sponsorship activity there is less consistent.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in insurance is most common for roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. Actuaries, data scientists, financial analysts, software engineers supporting insurance platforms, risk modelers, and compliance analysts are among the positions that regularly appear in H-1B filings. General sales, customer service, and claims-adjusting roles rarely qualify because they typically do not require a specific degree field.
How do I find insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface insurance roles in North Carolina where employers have indicated H-1B sponsorship. Rather than sorting through general job boards and guessing at sponsorship willingness, Migrate Mate focuses the results on positions relevant to H-1B candidates, saving significant time during what is often a time-sensitive job search.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in North Carolina's insurance sector?
North Carolina's Department of Insurance regulates carriers operating in the state, and some roles, particularly those involving licensed insurance activities, may require state licensure in addition to H-1B approval. Employers must also file a Labor Condition Application certifying that the offered position meets prevailing wage standards for the specific metro area, which differs between Charlotte and the Research Triangle. These requirements apply on top of the standard H-1B petition process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B insurance jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
