Which insurance companies sponsor visas in Oklahoma?
Major visa sponsors include American Fidelity in Oklahoma City, MAPFRE's regional operations, and Oklahoma-based units of national carriers like State Farm and Farmers Insurance. Many specialty agricultural insurers and workers' compensation carriers also sponsor international talent for actuarial, underwriting, and claims roles, particularly those with expertise in crop insurance and energy sector coverage.
How to find insurance visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for insurance roles in Oklahoma with confirmed visa sponsorship. The platform filters positions by state and industry, showing current openings at carriers, brokerages, and insurance services companies. Focus on Oklahoma City and Tulsa markets, where most major insurers maintain significant operations and actively recruit international professionals.
Which visa types are most common for insurance roles in Oklahoma?
H-1B visas dominate for actuarial analysts, data scientists, and specialized underwriters requiring advanced degrees. E-3 visas serve Australian professionals in senior underwriting and risk management roles. L-1 transfers are common when international insurers establish or expand Oklahoma operations. O-1 visas occasionally apply for recognized experts in agricultural insurance or catastrophe modeling.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most insurance sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City leads with headquarters and regional offices of major carriers, offering the widest range of sponsorship opportunities across all insurance functions. Tulsa follows with significant operations from national insurers and growing specialty markets. Norman benefits from University of Oklahoma's actuarial program pipeline, while smaller markets like Lawton focus primarily on agricultural and property insurance roles.
What are prevailing wage considerations for Oklahoma insurance jobs?
Oklahoma's lower cost of living allows competitive sponsorship opportunities even at modest prevailing wage levels compared to coastal markets. Actuarial roles typically meet H-1B wage requirements easily, while entry-level underwriting positions may require careful wage analysis. Agricultural insurance specialists often command premium wages due to specialized knowledge requirements and limited local talent pool.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored insurance jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
