Which media and entertainment companies sponsor H-1B visas in Pennsylvania?
Comcast, headquartered in Philadelphia, is the most prominent H-1B sponsor in Pennsylvania's media sector, filing petitions for roles spanning software engineering, data analytics, and broadcast technology. Smaller sponsors include advertising agencies, post-production studios, and digital content companies concentrated in the Philadelphia metro. Pittsburgh's entertainment and gaming-adjacent firms have also filed H-1B petitions, particularly for technical production roles.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most media and entertainment H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia is by far the dominant market, anchored by Comcast's corporate campus and a dense cluster of advertising, marketing, and digital media firms. Pittsburgh has a smaller but active scene, with film production, game-adjacent studios, and media technology companies contributing H-1B filings. Outside these two cities, H-1B sponsorship in media and entertainment becomes significantly less common across the rest of the state.
What types of media and entertainment roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
H-1B sponsorship in this industry generally applies to roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In media and entertainment, that typically includes software engineers building streaming or broadcast platforms, data analysts, UX designers, digital marketing strategists, and broadcast technology engineers. Creative roles like writers or directors are less commonly sponsored under H-1B and may be better suited to O-1 or other visa categories.
How do I find media and entertainment H-1B sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface media and entertainment roles with H-1B sponsorship in Pennsylvania, rather than manually sorting through listings where sponsorship status is unclear. Focusing your search on Philadelphia-based employers, particularly in digital media, broadcasting, and advertising technology, tends to yield the highest concentration of relevant openings.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in media and entertainment?
Pennsylvania does not have state-level visa programs, so the standard federal H-1B process applies. One practical consideration is that Pennsylvania's media industry skews heavily toward Philadelphia, meaning relocation to that metro is often a prerequisite. Comcast and similar large employers have established H-1B sponsorship processes, while smaller independent studios may sponsor less frequently and may have less internal experience navigating the petition process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B media & entertainment jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
