Tips for Finding H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Pennsylvania
Focus on Philadelphia's healthcare and life sciences corridor
Philadelphia hosts some of the largest H-1B filing employers in Pennsylvania, including major hospital systems and pharmaceutical companies. Targeting roles in these sectors gives you the highest concentration of active sponsors in the state.
Research Pittsburgh's technology and engineering employers
Pittsburgh has developed a strong technology and robotics sector anchored by Carnegie Mellon University spinoffs and established firms. Engineering, software, and AI-related roles here attract consistent H-1B sponsorship from both startups and large corporations.
Use DOL disclosure data to verify sponsorship history
Before applying, search the Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure database to confirm a Pennsylvania employer has filed Labor Condition Applications recently. Employers with multiple LCA filings demonstrate active, ongoing sponsorship programs rather than one-off exceptions.
Browse H-1B-filtered listings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search Pennsylvania H-1B roles without sorting through hundreds of postings that exclude international applicants. It removes guesswork about which employers are genuinely open to sponsoring.
Target mid-size firms with established immigration infrastructure
Pennsylvania's mid-size financial services, consulting, and engineering firms often have in-house immigration counsel or retained immigration attorneys, signaling a repeatable sponsorship process. These employers are often more accessible than large corporations with highly competitive pipelines.
Align your application timing with Pennsylvania university hiring cycles
Penn State, the University of Pennsylvania, and Drexel University all sponsor H-1B roles in research and academic administration. Applications submitted in Q4 and Q1 often align with budget approvals and faculty hiring cycles, improving your chances of securing a cap-subject petition.

Which industries in Pennsylvania sponsor the most H-1B visas?
Healthcare and life sciences lead H-1B visa sponsorship in Pennsylvania, driven by large hospital networks and pharmaceutical employers concentrated around Philadelphia. Information technology, financial services, and higher education also generate significant petition volume. Engineering and professional services firms in Pittsburgh represent another consistent source of sponsorship activity across the state.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia accounts for the largest share of H-1B sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania, given its density of healthcare systems, financial institutions, and professional services employers. Pittsburgh follows as a strong secondary market, particularly in technology and engineering. Harrisburg and Allentown contribute more modestly, primarily through healthcare, government contractors, and regional corporate offices.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
H-1B sponsorship in Pennsylvania is most common in software engineering, data science, financial analysis, nursing and clinical roles, biomedical research, and civil or mechanical engineering. These positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the job duties, which is the core requirement for H-1B specialty occupation classification.
How do I find H-1B sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate lets you search Pennsylvania job listings filtered specifically by H-1B sponsorship, so you can focus only on employers actively willing to file petitions. Combining that with the DOL's OFLC disclosure database to review each employer's LCA filing history gives you a reliable way to identify sponsors with an established track record in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
