Which transportation companies sponsor H-1B visas in Pennsylvania?
Several large transportation and logistics employers in Pennsylvania have filed H-1B visa petitions in recent years. These include Norfolk Southern, CSX Transportation, SEPTA, and UPS, along with engineering and infrastructure consulting firms such as AECOM and WSP that support transportation projects statewide. Sponsorship activity is concentrated among employers with large technical and engineering workforces rather than general operations roles.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most transportation H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh account for the majority of transportation H-1B sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia anchors port, rail, and transit operations, including SEPTA's extensive network, while Pittsburgh's logistics and infrastructure engineering sector draws on its proximity to major freight corridors. Harrisburg, as the state capital, also generates transportation planning and policy roles that periodically require H-1B sponsorship.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in transportation is most common for roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Transportation engineers, civil engineers specializing in infrastructure, logistics systems analysts, supply chain managers, traffic operations planners, and GIS analysts working on transit projects are among the role types that regularly appear in H-1B filings. General driving, dispatching, and warehouse operations roles do not qualify, as they do not meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find transportation H-1B sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to search for transportation H-1B roles in Pennsylvania without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location, role type, and visa category to focus on employers actively hiring international candidates for Pennsylvania-based transportation positions.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in transportation?
Pennsylvania's transportation sector is heavily shaped by public infrastructure investment, which means a significant share of roles are tied to state-funded or federally funded projects. Public agencies like PennDOT and SEPTA are subject to procurement and hiring rules that can affect how and when they sponsor H-1B workers. Candidates pursuing roles at contractors and consulting firms working on Pennsylvania DOT projects may find more consistent sponsorship pathways than those targeting public agency positions directly.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B transportation jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
